Degree eligibility requirements

  • Complete all of the courses listed in the curriculum plan for a total of 121 semester hours.
  • At St. John’s College of Nursing, you must complete a minimum of 30 semester hours.
  • Achieve a minimum 2.0 GPA in each of the college’s courses.
  • Before applying for graduation, be sure you’re free of any financial or institutional restraints.
  • Students who graduate in the summer are eligible to participate in the May ceremony.
  • Students in the accelerated program are eligible to attend the December ceremony.
  • Students in the RN-BSN program may attend the May, or December ceremonies, depending on when they complete the program.
  • Within four years of enrolling in college, all graduation requirements must be completed. Students who are about to graduate must submit a graduation application.

Master of eligibility requirements

To be eligible for a master of science in nursing degree, a student must satisfactorily meet both the general requirements of the master’s program and the specific requirements of the specialty track in which they are enrolled.

Specific requirements include:

  • The Nurse Practitioner track requires 45 semester hours, including clinical requirements.
  • The Nurse Administration and Leadership track requires 38 hours of study time, including clinical prerequisites.
  • Achieve a minimum 3.0 GPA in all of the college’s courses. For courses with a grade of less than a B, credit hours toward the degree are not provided. The grade point average is calculated using all grades.
  • Before applying for graduation, be sure you’re free of any financial or institutional restraints.
  • Students who graduate in the summer might attend commencement ceremonies in May or December.
  • Within four years of enrolling in college, all graduation requirements must be completed. Students who are about to graduate must submit a graduation application.
