Apply for Financial Aid

To apply for financial aid, applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov. Completing the FAFSA is free, and can be a straightforward and easy process. Here are some tips to help you along the way:

• To complete the FAFSA online, the student (and a parent if the student is considered dependent) requires a FSA ID to access, make corrections and electronically sign the FAFSA. To obtain a FSA ID, please visit fsaid.ed.gov.

• Lawrence Memorial/Regis College’s Title IV Code is 006331. Note that this is different school code than Regis College.

• When completing or updating the FAFSA, students (and their parents if the student is considered dependent) should use the FAFSA’s IRS Data Retrieval Tool, which transfers tax information into the FAFSA. If you (and/or your parents) are unable to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, you may need to request IRS Tax Return Transcripts, which may be requested at www.irs.gov or 800-908-9946.

• We do not require any additional applications other than the FAFSA; however should if additional information is needed to award your financial aid, we will contact you.

We encourage students who are interested in financial aid to complete the FAFSA to receive a financial aid award; however students can receive an estimate of their financial aid eligibility and estimate their out-of-pocket expenses by using the Net Price Calculator.

Note: You must be accepted to the College before you can be awarded financial aid. However, you are encouraged to apply for financial aid before receiving your admissions notification.

Financial Aid

Lawrence Memorial/Regis College commits to helping qualified students reach their educational goals by providing a variety of financial aid programs and resources.

Grants and Scholarships

Federal Pell Grant: The Pell Grant is a need-based grant from the federal government for students with significant financial need. The amount of the Federal Pell Grant is based on the student’s Expected Family Contribution (as determined by the FAFSA) and enrollment status. Students with a prior Bachelor’s Degree do not qualify for the Pell Grant.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG): The SEOG Grant is a need-based grant from the federal government and is awarded on a very limited basis to Pell Grant recipients. Students with a prior Bachelor’s Degree do not qualify for the SEOG Grant.

Mass Grant: The Mass Grant is a need-based grant from the state of Massachusetts that is based on the student’s Expected Family Contribution (as determined by the FAFSA) and residency. Students must be enrolled full-time (12+ credits) and complete by the FAFSA by May 1st to qualify. Students with a prior Bachelor’s Degree do not qualify for the Mass Grant.

Massachusetts Gilbert Grant: The Gilbert Grant is a need-based grant from the state of Massachusetts. Funds are limited and awarded to students who are enrolled full-time (12+ credits) and are Massachusetts residents. Students with a prior Bachelor’s Degree do not qualify for the Gilbert Grant.

Massachusetts Part-Time Grant: The Massachusetts Part-Time Grant is awarded on a funds-available basis to Massachusetts residents who are enrolled part-time (6-11 credits). Students with a prior Bachelor’s Degree do not qualify for the Massachusetts Part-Time Grant.

Wennerstrom Scholarship: Scholarship awarded to students in the first semester of the Nursing Program. Information and application is mailed to students before they start the nursing program. Scholarship is renewable (provided the renewal requirements are met).

Tuition Remission: A 25% tuition discount on nursing and radiography courses is available to eligible Hallmark Health employees and their immediate family members (spouse and children). To qualify, the employee must have worked for Hallmark Health at least 22-½ hours per week for a period of six months or more and must continue employment (at least 15 hours/week) during the enrollment period. Employees are also eligible for tuition reimbursement for non-nursing or non-radiography courses in accordance with Hallmark Health policy. Questions regarding tuition reimbursement should be directed to the Human Resources Department.

Private Scholarships: Students are encouraged to seek private scholarships to help reduce the cost of education. More information can be found here Private Scholarship Flyer.

Educational Loans

Federal Direct Stafford Loans: Federal Direct Stafford Loans are available to students who are enrolled at least half-time.

  • The Subsidized Federal Direct Loan is available to students who demonstrate financial need. The interest is paid (subsidized) by the federal government while the student is in school.
  • The Unsubsidized Federal Direct Loan is available to students who do not demonstrate financial need. The student is responsible for the interest that accrues on the unsubsidized loan during enrollment, grace, and repayment periods.

Maximum Annual Federal Stafford Loan Limits*

  • First Year Students: $5,500 (Dependent Student) / $9,500 (Independent Student)
  • Second-Year Students: $6,500 (Dependent Student) / $10,500 (Independent Student)

To accept the Federal Direct Stafford Loan, all first time borrowers at Lawrence Memorial/Regis College must complete the Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling at www.studentloans.gov.

Federal Direct Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS): The Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan is available to students who are enrolled at least half-time.  The PLUS loan is available to creditworthy parents of dependent undergraduate students, and is not based upon financial need. Parents may apply at www.studentloans.gov.

Private Loans: We encourage students to borrow federal student loans before applying for private loans, because they may be more favorable. However, students who need financing beyond the federal loan limits may borrow with a private educational loan. Interest rates typically vary based on the borrower’s credit. Although not always required, students should consider adding a co-signer with a strong credit history. Adding a credit-worthy co-applicant typically results in a lower interest rate and increased chance of approval.

For a list of private loans, please visit: http://www.finaid.org/loans/privatestudentloans.phtml

Student Employment

Federal Work Study (FWS): FWS is a federally subsidized program that provides job opportunities to help students with educational expenses. Students must apply for financial aid, and have demonstrated financial need to qualify. Students who are interested should contact the Financial Aid Office at [email protected]

Payment options

We offer multiple options to pay for your Lawrence Memorial/Regis College education. Each option can be used individually or in combination. If you would like to discuss the best option for you, please contact the Bursar at [email protected] or 781 306-6650.

Financial Aid

Students who are not able to pay for the program out of pocket, can apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov. In most situations, financial aid does not cover the total cost of the program. Please click here for more information.

Cash, check or debit/credit card

To pay with cash, check or credit card, call the Bursar at 781 306-6650 or stop by the Bursar’s Office.

Monthly Payment Plan

Students may also pay tuition and fees through a monthly payment plan administered by the Bursar. Payment plans are available for the Fall and Spring semesters only. There is a $50 / semester Payment Plan Service Fee (PP fee) that must be paid at the time of signing up for the plan. Re-enrollment is required each semester. Payment plan schedule is listed below:

Students that are late on their payment plan will be charged late fees based on schedule below:

  • 1st time late = $50
  • 2nd time late = $100

For example: Payment due August 15th. If not paid by September 1st a $50 late fee will be assessed to the student’s account. Next payment due September 15th. If not paid by October 1st an additional $100 fee will be assessed to the student’s account.

Removal from Payment Plan: Any student that is late more than two (2) times will lose their privilege to utilize a payment plan for subsequent semesters. All future semesters will need to be paid-in-full by the tuition due date.

Private Educational Loans/PLUS Loan

In many cases, students need to borrow additional loans after exhausting their Federal Stafford Loan eligibility (we recommend students first apply for financial aid and borrow with federal student loans). Information regarding private educational loans can be found at www.finaid.org. LM/RC does not endorse any individual lender. Students who have questions regarding private loans are encouraged to contact the Financial Aid Administrator.
