The James M. & Erma T. Freemont Foundation will award $10,000 in scholarships for the 2023-2024 academic school year. Scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors, undergraduates and students in graduate school.

The Foundation is funding scholarships for students in the following categories:

High School Seniors
College Undergraduates
Graduate Students

The James M. & Erma T. Freemont Foundation will award $10,000 in scholarships for the academic school year. Scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors, undergraduates and students in graduate school.

Criteria/General Guidelines

High School Seniors

Current high school seniors must attend school in the United States.
Applicant must be anticipating completion of high school in the spring.
Applicants must plan to matriculate at accredited HBCU for the academic year (enrollment must begin in the Fall) with the intention of maintaining full-time status for the entire year.
Current minimum grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.00 grade scale (excluding home school studies), and minimum SAT score of 1800 (combined math essay and verbal score) or ACT score of 28.
Applicants must apply to and be accepted into an HBCU by July 1st.
If you do not yet know which school you will attend, put your first choice.
If you are awarded a scholarship you will need to submit proof of acceptance
If you are an incoming student who has yet to enroll, you must submit proof of acceptance from schools of choice.
Applicants must have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service activities.

Undergraduate Students

Applicants must attend (or planning to attend) an accredited HBCU for the Fall 2015/Spring 2016 academic year (enrollment must begin in the Fall) with the intention of maintaining full-time status for the entire year.
Applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in the sciences with the intention of pursuing that discipline as a career.
Current minimum grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.00 grade scale
Applicants must have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service activities.

Graduate Students

Graduate students must be enrolled in or must apply to and be accepted into a graduate school by July 1st.
Applicants must be pursuing a graduate degree in the health and medical sciences with the intention of pursuing that discipline as a career.
Applicants must be accepted or enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program in the United States for the Fall 2015/Spring 2016 academic year (enrollment must begin in the Fall).
Current minimum grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.00 grade scale
Applicants must have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service activities.
