You may make full or partial payments at any time prior to June 1.

If you plan to pay with federal financial aid and you haven’t yet started the process YOU’RE LATE. Call our Financial Aid Office immediately 1-800-560-4692.

After May 15, 2021	NWC mails bills to student home addresses.
June 1	Student loans, scholarships and grants are available in the Business Office. Note: If you are receiving a federal loan for the first time, you must wait until July 1.
June 1	Deadline for payment in full of all charges (tuition, fees, room, rent, meals, etc.)
June 8	Last day to drop classes and receive a full refund. Students who register for classes and later decide not to attend must officially withdraw by notifying the Registrar in writing before June 8. Students who don’t withdraw are responsible for account payment, whether or not they attended.
July 1	Student loan funds available for first-time student loan borrowers.
June 8	Students with unpaid balances on June 8 are withdrawn from all classes, checked out of campus housing and their meal plans are canceled. Bills will be mailed monthly until the account is paid in full. Accounts unpaid after one year are sent to an outside collection agency. Students withdrawn for nonpayment Are responsible for the entire balance owed, plus interest charged monthly at a rate of 1% (12% annually). Cannot register for Northwest classes Cannot obtain transcripts Who are financial aid recipients may be required to repay federal funds and be placed on Financial Aid Suspension.

Payment Plan

If you would like to pay your education expenses monthly, use the Interest-Free Monthly Payment Option offered by our partner, Nelnet Enterprise. There is a small enrollment fee.

Nelnet Enterprise includes scheduled automated payment (ACH or credit card), in addition to, personal account service, automated account information 24 hours a day, and access to your account through their website.

On the WebAdvisor menu under WEBADVISOR FOR STUDENTS, click Student Financial Info
Click View Account and Make Payments
Click Student Finance in Self-Service Student Finance
Click Manage Payment Plans
Click Proceed to Processor
You are now on the Nelnet Payment Plan site. If you are visiting for the first time, you will need to create an account.
- Verify the information is correct on the Create Account screen and click Next to proceed through the account creation process.
- Create a 4-digit PIN and choose and answer the two Telephone ID questions and click Submit.

Payment plans are offered thru the NWC Business Office on a very limited basis and also include a small enrollment fee at same rate as Nelnet Enterprise.

Payment & Refund Policies

Tuition Payment Policy

Students may pay tuition and fees any time after registering for classes. The deadline for payment in full of all charges (tuition, fees, room, rent, meals) is the first day of the semester.

Bills are emailed/mailed to students on a regular basis. However it isn’t necessary to wait for a bill to pay. View a statement of your account at any time online at nwc.edu/MyNWC. You may also contact the Business Office for balances or other account questions.

Any student with an unpaid balance and not on a payment plan is subject to withdrawal from all classes 30 days after the first drop date. If withdrawn for nonpayment, the student remains responsible for the entire balance owed, with interest charged monthly at a rate of 1 percent (12 percent annual rate). Students with an outstanding balance with the college will not be able to register for a following semester until paid in full or payment arrangements are made.

Unpaid accounts are typically sent to a collection agency for withdrawn students who still have a balance 30 days after withdrawal.

Students residing on campus who have been withdrawn from classes are checked out of their rooms or apartments and their meal plans are discontinued.

Students who register for classes but decide not to attend must notify the Registrar in writing or via e-mail ([email protected]) within the first 12 percent of the semester to avoid tuition and fee charges. Refund Policy

Refunds are made by check or direct deposit every Friday. Please be sure the Business Office has your correct address. Please contact the Business Office if you would like your refunds direct deposited to your bank account.

Students who preregister for classes but decide not to attend must notify the Registrar in writing or via e-mail ([email protected]) during the first 12 percent of the semester to avoid tuition and fees charges. The effective date of withdrawal is the date notification is received by the Registrar.

Refund Schedule

Students who officially withdraw before 12 percent of the semester has elapsed receive a full refund of tuition and fees. Thereafter, students who withdraw from school or drop classes receive refunds based on the following schedule. Exact dates are in the Semester Class Schedule.

First 12 percent of Semester

100 percent refund of tuition and fees

90 percent refund of residence hall charges

Meal plans and apartment rent are prorated based upon checkout date

First 13-25 percent of Semester

50 percent refund of tuition (fees not refundable)

No refunds of residence hall charges or meal plans, or apartment rent

After 25 percent of Semester

No refund of tuition, fees, residence hall charges, meal plans, or apartment rent

Students who receive Federal Financial Aid are subject to this policy. The Return to Federal Title IV Funds Policy

Military Students who receive Tuition Assistance (TA) are subject to this policy. Military TA Refund Policy

Dropping Courses.* Students with 14.5 or fewer credit hours who decrease their credit hours by dropping a course receive a refund of tuition and course fees based upon the above schedules.

*Notify the Registrar in writing of your intention to drop a course or withdraw. The drop or withdrawal date is the date written notice is received by the Registrar.

Students who decrease their credit hours but retain 15 or more receive a refund of course fees based upon the above schedules.

Refunds for classes meeting less than a full semester have a prorated refund period.
