Applications are hereby invited from qualified candidates into the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree programme in the Open and Distance Learning (ODLC) Centre of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso for the Academic Session.

ODL PROGRAMMES AND THE NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORPS (NYSC)

The Open and Distance Learning (ODL) platform was created in order to offer opportunities of Education for the older working class people.

However, the high population of young candidates seeking for admission into Universities and the problem of inadequate space to accommodate all has been a major challenge.

Obviously, this challenge had driven the young and fresh school leavers to consider distance education. In LODLC, academic activities are driven by emerging technologies in line with world best practices, because we realise that learning is not restricted by age or location, it is a lifelong process that takes place throughout life.

Hence, we have deployed available technologies to make learning easy and exciting for our students. Invariably, an act which has also attracted young school leavers.

However, it is the desire of every young graduate to take part in the NYSC. It is a programme which is attractive to the youth and which many consider as “must do” and this issue had deterred many prospective candidates from venturing into the ODL platform.

The good news is that the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has given a platform for Open and Distance Learners to be captured on the JAMB portal in order to have registration numbers, which would enable them to be mobilized for NYSC.

Prospective candidates for the ODL programmes can now breathe a sigh of relief, NYSC mobilization has become a reality. Learners who graduate at or before thirty years of age would be registered for mobilization for NYSC while learners above thirty years at graduation would be given an exemption certificate.

Admission Requirements for B.Sc. Accounting and B.Sc Marketing
Applicants must possess at least five (5) credit passes in SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB at not more than two sittings and the subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjects. Commerce may be acceptable in lieu of Economics for B.Sc . Accounting and Marketing
Admission Requirements for B.Sc. Computer Science
Applicants must possess at least (5) credit passes in SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB at not more than two sittings and the subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics with any two of the following subjects :Further Mathematics, Chemistry, ,Biology, Agricultural Science, Economics and Geography
Admission Requirements for BN.Sc. Nursing Science
Applicants must possess at least five (5) credit passes in SSCE/GCE/NECO at not more than two sittings in relevant subjects. In addition, applicants should possess Registered Nurse Certificate (RN) or its equivalent. credit passes in SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB at not more than two sittings and the subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

- Ordinary National Diploma (OND) from recognised polytechnics with a minimum of Lower Credit in Accounting/Marketing with relevant professional qualification may be considered.
- Higher National Diploma (HND) from a recognised polytechnics with pass in Accounting/Marketing or other related disciplines may also be considered
- Good credit passes in “A” Level certificate in relevant subjects may also be considered.

- Ordinary National Diploma (OND) from a recognised polytechnic with Minimum of Upper Credit in Computer Science Engineering/Technology or any other relevant disciplines may also be considered.
- Ordinary National Diploma (OND) from recognised polytechnics with a minimum of Lower credit in Computer Science or Computer Engineering / Technology with relevant professional qualifications may be considered.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ON ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates who participated in the 2022/2023 UTME examination and scored 180 and above may also be considered for admission irrespective of their choice of institution.

COMPUTER PROFICIENCY:

Computer proficiency training and test will be conducted for all applicants.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

a. Application forms are available on-line on payment of application fee of ₦10,000.00 and Technology fee of ₦2,500.00 only.

b. Candidates are expected to register on the Centre’s website; lodlc.lautech.edu.ng by completing and submitting the on-line application form.

c. In completing the on-line application form, candidates are required to upload a scanned passport photograph with white background showing ears, no cap and no glasses. The scanned passport photograph must be in JPEG format (i.e. jpg) and must not be more than 20kb. On submission of the application form, candidates are to print out Referee Form and an Acknowledgement page which will give them access to venue of the Computer Proficiency Training/Test.
