The Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) is a departments of the South African government, headed by the Minister of Arts and Culture. The Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) bursary programme is intended for deserving students who wish to pursue studies in heritage related programmes.
Bursaries will be awarded within the following fields of study:
- Archives and Records Management
- Conservation of the Built Environment
- Conservation and Preventive Conservation
- Collections Management (Cultural and Natural)
- Heritage Resources Management
- Indigenous Knowledge Systems
- Information Science
- Museum Management and Curatorship
Bursaries are awarded to 30 students each year, to the maximum value of R70 000 per student.
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- South African citizen
- Studying or intend on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study
- Studying or have been accepted to study at a recognised tertiary institution in South Africa
- Proven financial need
